What is your rock bottom? You have heard the term "hit rock bottom" and probably thought oh that sounds horrible. I

actually believe It is a good thing when you hit it. It is when you get to the end of your rope and are finally ready to try a new way. Our old ways are no longer working, and we are ready to for real change. I often get referrals or request for appointments in the middle of the night. This weekend I received several 2am emails requesting appointment ASAP. "I need help!" This is the white flag surrender email. Please, I have hit my rock bottom, and I need to change something.

Pain vs Pleasure theory applies here. People have a strong tendency to seek pleasure
and avoid pain. Sigmund Freud argued that people will sometimes go to great lengths to
avoid even momentary pain, particularly at times of psychological weakness or
vulnerability.
Dick Schwartz says we have a tendency to drown our pain parts out with what he calls
firefighters. This is all a part of "Parts Work" aka IFS-Internal Family Systems. Our
firefighters come in a protect our vulnerable parts so we can avoid feeling pain.
Our firefighter parts are fierce protectors! They can appear in the form of
procrastination, drinking alcohol, over-eating/binging, social media addiction,
pornography, etc... any behavior that helps us to escape pain feelings or
vulnerability. The parts can behave in extreme ways!
Think about this for one hot minute. You know you want to feel healthy, have great
habits, improve your relationships, all the things right? Then boom you sabotage your
success with _____. You fill in the blank.

If this habit looks familiar or some version of it is causing you from achieving your goals,
we need to talk! There are many ways our parts can show up and take us out. Then in
turn we have feelings of shame, guilt, and self-loathing.
Why do I do what I do?
I hate when I ____. You fill it in. I hate that part of me!
There is a better way! There are No Parts! I am going to teach you how to recognize
when the Parts are taking over and taking you out of Self-Energy.
You can achieve success in your health, relationships, and career, and live the life you
are meant to live.
