Day 2 How was day 1? Send me your questions! Let's dig into the food a little more. I am going to focus on Vata
balancing foods and supplements since everyone in this group is in the Vata stage of life and it is winter which is Vata season. Breakfast Ideas (please see joyfulbelly.com and Laura Plumb's book, Ayurveda Cooking for Beginners.) Oatmeal with honey, pecans, pumpkin seeds, and cinnamon (I throw in whatever berries I have or a 1/2 cooked apple which is great for gut health)
Warm smoothies bowl made with berries and warm coconut milk top with fruit, coconut,
and granola
Quinoa with coconut milk and seasonal spices* add a little ghee and it is a perfect to
start the day and nourish Vata
Fruit Bowl- cooked apple (this is great for your gut flora), cooked pear, ghee, berries,
and seasonal spices*
And Soup!
2 carrots
2 spring onions
3 cups of Basic Broth*
dulse or sea vegetables such as kelp, hiziki, or kombu
Warm Smoothie
I warmed coconut milk or whatever milk you use added some fruit from the counter fruit
bowl with some turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and spirulina or moringa which is a bone
marrow cleansing agent. And, it was SOO good!
*Basic Broth
1 Tbl Ghee
1 Tbl Spice Blend
1 large onion
4-5 large carrots (chopped)
1 large bunch celery
4 cups water
1 Tbl aminos or shoyu
Cook for 2 hours. Strain into jar. Store with airtight lid and it will keep up to 6 days in
fridge.
*Spice Blend
2 Tbl ginger (ground)
1 Tbl ground cinnamon
1 Tsp ground cloves
1 Tsp ground turmeric
1 Tsp ground fenugreek
Add in a jar and seal to use for all your cooking during the winter months.

What can I do about my dry skin, constipation, dry scalp, or achy joints?
So glad you asked!
Abhyanga is a way of giving yourself a self-massage with warm oil daily/nightly before
bed.
You can use almond oil for light skin and sesame oil for dark skin on your whole body,
especially your joints -rub in clockwise motion and your legs and arms straight down.
Let the oil sit for a minimum of 10 min. If you can do 20 it will be great! Shower and off
to bed!
I admit I thought this was weird until I started doing it. It helped my elbow pain 100%! I
wish I had tried it before I judged it.
