Why all the pain? Back pain, anxiety, repressed anger, and more... Why is there so much pain in the world? It seems so
unfair. It is overwhelming! All of us are feeling the affects. Whether it is your family, work, the world, traffic, or just being you, it is hard to just be right now. I hear it in the words of my clients, my yoga students, my friends, my family, and my own personal experience. I have had debilitating back pain the past 2 weeks. I thought I was finished with that chapter in my life. I went to PT for 9 months, chiropractors, acupuncture, and changed my entire diet. I eliminated all foods that could potentially cause any inflammation. I was pain-free for 6 weeks! I thought WHEW! I am good. I am past it.
Then like a summer storm that comes out of the blue sky it hit me. My back was out. I
have been in so much pain the past couple of weeks. Every single day and night. I
moaned at night and had tears flow through my yoga practice.
And yet, I have continued to show up on the mat and practice and BREATHE through
the pain. Breathe into the pain. Listen to the messages that come from the body. I have
listened and prayed.
I learned that my body was holding a lot of repressed emotions I thought I had dealt with
years ago. As I listened and allowed the tears to flow and feel the emotions, the pain
released its grip on my body.
The reality is the Body DOES Keep Score. Your cells hear and remember every single
thought you have. They will not magically heal without attention. Your personality affects
your body more than you realize.
Some of us go to anger, while others go to fear or anxiety. The body reacts accordingly.
This is why the Enneagram, Ayurveda, and IFS (Internal Family Systems) matter so
much to me! This is how we heal!
Dr. John Sarno wrote a book Healing Back Pain where he describes the symptoms:
pain, stiffness, weakness, tingling, numbness, muscle contractures, cramps and other
negative sensations. Sarno believed our brain used pain to distract us from
experiencing negative emotions. So we go to the doctor and get pain meds or even
have surgery only to have the pain return because we have not addressed the root
cause--repressed emotions.
Listen to the body.
It has secrets to share that your mind has repressed.
You CAN HEAL YOUR BODY.
Regardless of condition--IBS, Auto-Immune, Back Pain, high blood pressure, etc... your
body can heal. It takes time, energy, and a little digging into the subconscious
program--we will reprogram it!
I am happy to report I have practiced yoga every day allowing the pain to show me the
way to health and healing-WHOLENESS. Today I actually practiced 2x and played
tennis for over 2 hours with no pain. The formula works!
