Spiritual By-pass and pain in the body Back pain, IBS, hair loss, heart palpitations, shortness of breath, shoulder

pain, knee pain, insomnia, etc... I could go on and on about how the body responds to our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs. Bruce Lipton, Ph.D, is a stem cell biologist who taught medical students at the University of Wisconsin's School of Medicine and later went on to research at Stanford University and wrote the book, The Biology of Belief, Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter & Miracles. It is a body of research that proves the effects of the brain's functioning on the cells in the body. These cells are affecting our thoughts. DNA, genes, and our family history are only part of the story. The stories we tell ourselves and the thoughts we have actually impact our bodies more than anything else. The human body is mental, spiritual, and physical. You can change the way your body feels by changing your thoughts. You can change your genetic makeup by changing your thoughts. You thoughts, feelings, and beliefs control your biology.

The are a few problems we face. First, we do not acknowledge hurt, rejection,
humiliation, fear, or anger when something happens. Especially if it happened to us in
our childhood. We skip right over it and power through. It is interwoven in our
rugged-individual culture-"pull yourself up by your bootstraps."
The other reason is what I call "Spiritual Bypass" where we focus on the positives and
affirm we are spiritual; therefore do not experience pain. So we show up with a warrior
spirit and get through the trauma or hurt.
Another problem we face is our tendency to live in a pill-popping culture. Go to the
doctor, have the surgery, get a pain-killer, drink the extra wine to numb the pain. We
believe if there is a problem, the doctor can fix it. The doctor can help many things and
make lifestyle suggestions, but the doctor cannot heal the mental chatter that keeps us
stuck in the pain.

This is where mental health matters the most! There are 100s of books on the shelves
and 1000s of research projects to prove the mind, body, spirit connection. Yet, we
continue to deny our own truth.
I believe the Enneagram offers a depth of information into why we do what we do and
don't do what we want to do. We have blind spots that keep us on the hamster wheel of
thinking the same things, telling the same stories, and staying stuck in the same habits.
These habits hold us back. The habits have a grip on our bodies.
When we are in enough pain that we hit our bottom, we reach out for help. When we are
ready to see what we are really up to, we wake up. If you want to change your personal
reality, you have to look at the personality. We begin to see how the personality keeps
us blindfolded and how we stay on the hamster wheel.

medicine and will bring you to this present moment. Breathe into the pain. Allow the

pain to show you what it needs from you. Many of us have repressed emotions for so
long, we don't even realize it is buried in there. Allow the pain to show you. Allow the
breathe to lead the way and let it flow through your body.

to live.
You are meant for more. I just know it. You have a calling! Show up and allow your life
to unfold and become whole.
