Day 15 of 21 You are almost there! I am wondering how you are all feeling. Old habits are hard to break if you are not

totally committed to the process. Have you successfully set up a system to support your new lifestyle? What about a new tribe to hold you accountable and show up with you? What has been the One Thing that has helped you the most? What is One Thing that has hindered you the most? Habits are a double-edged sword! Spend some time today reflecting on how you have changed in the past 14 days. Ok let's get back to some basics about Ayurveda. I feel like I have shared a lot of new ideas. I want to get back to the basics. The three most important words you will learn are Pitta, Vata, and Kapha. Pay attention to your dosha. Eat foods that pacify your dosha. Remember more of what you are creates an imbalance. If you are Kapha and eat a lot of heavy food, you will get heavier and out of balance. If you are Pitta and eat hot, spicy food, you will get agitated and angry. If you are Vata and eat too many light foods such as salads, you will get cold and dry leading to scattered and anxious. Pay attention to how you feel after you eat. Listen to your body! It is speaking to you! 10 Tips for Ayurveda in the Winter 1. Hydrate

2. Oil
3. Sleep
4. Move Your Booty
5. Dress Warm
6. Eat and Drink Warm
7. Add Some Spice to Your Life
8. Fat is Grounding
9. Starve a Virus and Feed a Cold
10. Nest
Hydration is the top priority for the winter. It is cold, so you may not realize you are
thirsty. You can fill up a thermos of water with a lime/lemon and a pinch of pink salt, so it
will stay warm all day. Or make some good herbal tea to sip throughout the day. Just
drink warm fluids all day and try to avoid caffeine if possible.

Oil is so important and has been a game-changer for my skin. I have stopped using all
lotion and now only use oil. Your skin is your largest organ and absorbs the oil in your
joints and your skin. It alleviates that dryness, creaking bones and scaly scalp. I cannot
say this loud enough! Abhyanga is so healing for your body in the winter. You can do it
yourself or splurge and get a treatment. You are worth it. If you are in HHI or visiting for
vacation, go see Desiree at Namaste Spa. She is amazing!
Neti Pot when you have any congestion and put oil in your nose if the nose is super dry.

Sleep is so underrated and so necessary for the healing and nourishing of you body.
Allow yourself to take that 20 min nap in the afternoon or to sleep in. Notice the shorter
days and take advantage of it. It feels so good! Your body will be so happy. Sip some
warm coconut milk, with ghee, turmeric, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Move your Booty! You can walk, dance, run, practice yoga, ride your Peloton, hike, or
simply do Pranayama. You just need to move! Get outside at least 20 min a day and get
some sunlight even if it is cloudy.

Dress Warmly! It is so wet and cold today in HHI. I layered up with a sweater, pants, two
shirts, and big thick socks. Your hands and feet must be warm. If you are outside cover
your head to keep the warmth inside. Wet, cold days are not the time to wear those cute
short jeans and no socks. There will be time for that in May.
Eat Warm Mushy Foods! I am making Chicken Chili today for my family as I am writing
this. I made cooked apples with buckwheat cinnamon pancakes for breakfast. I made
cinnamon oatmeal with cooked apples every morning last week. It is so warm and
nourishing for your body. Throw in a little ghee and your gut will be so happy!

Add Some Spice to Your Life! Add cardamon, cinnamon, turmeric, cloves and cayenne
to your soups, veggies, and breakfast. It is warming and helps your digestion system. If
you are kapha, this is especially good for you! It will get the juices flowing and break up
stagnation.
Fat is Nourishing and Grounding. Add a little ghee, coconut oil, avocado, chia seeds in
water or coconut milk soaked overnight, and flax seeds are all adding lubrication to your
GI tract. I know this is counterintuitive to the Western World.
Starve a Virus and Feed a Cold. That is so real! You want to starve a virus and nourish
a cold. Sip warm teas with honey and lemon or get some Slippery Elm tea is so yummy.
Try it. A lot of my family and friends and family have had covid and this has been my # 1
recommendation. Your body is looking for nourishment.
Last but not least-NEST

I am so proud of you! Keep on keeping on!
